Reduce the chance of injury

Did you see what happened to Danillo of Nottingham forest! I hope he makes a speedy recovery and gets back to playing soon.

This is the harsh reality of professional football and sports. There is a chance of being seriously injured. For Danillo and other premier league players they will be looked after by some of the best medical professionals available. For those lower down the football pyramid it isn’t so good.

I say this because although you can’t completely eliminate the chance of injury when playing or training for football you can reduce the chance of it happening through training and preparation.

Through strength and conditioning training you can improve the strength of the body to not only produce more force but also to absorb it.

The ability to absorb force is what helps you mostly to reduce your chance of injury to your muscles, bones, tendons and ligaments

The way you train to reduce your chance of injury includes is through strength and resistance training, single leg exercises (lunges, split squats) and plyometrics.

Although the goal of training should be to improve your performance there are ways to train that will also help to reduce your chance of injury.

By doing so you’ll stay match fit for longer and be able to train more. This means you can play more matches, score more goals and train more, building on each day's work without having to rest and recover from injury.
